Privacy
The short version
We collect what we need to send you a working stand and nothing else. We don't sell data, we don't run advertising trackers on this site, and we don't add you to a mailing list unless you ask.
Who is responsible
JS Smart Systems, a sole trader business operated by Joe Spray in Straiton, Midlothian, is the data controller for information collected through this site. Contact: jssmartsystems@gmail.com.
What we collect
- Order details — your name, email and delivery address.
- Payment — handled entirely by Stripe. We receive confirmation that payment succeeded and the last four digits of the card. We never receive or store the full card number.
- Enquiries — if you email or call, we keep the correspondence.
- Advertising measurement — only if you accept cookies, the Meta pixel records which pages you viewed and whether you bought.
Why, and on what basis
We use your name and address to fulfil the contract you've entered into with us. We keep order records for six years because HMRC requires it. We use your email to send dispatch confirmation and to answer questions, which is also contract performance.
Who else sees it
Only the suppliers we need to run the business: Stripe for payments, Royal Mail for delivery, Netlify for site hosting, Google Workspace for email, and — if you have accepted cookies — Meta for advertising measurement. Each of these processes data on our instructions. We don't share your details with anyone else, and we don't sell them.
How long we keep it
Order and transaction records for six years from the end of the tax year they fall in, as required by HMRC. General enquiries that don't result in an order are deleted after two years.
Your rights
Under UK GDPR you can ask for a copy of what we hold on you, ask us to correct it, ask us to delete it (where we're not legally required to keep it), object to how we use it, or ask for it in a portable format. Email us and we'll respond within one month.
If you're unhappy with how we've handled your data you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113.
Cookies and advertising
We use the Meta pixel to measure whether our Facebook and Instagram adverts are working. It is not loaded at all unless you press Accept on the cookie notice, and you can decline without losing any functionality. If you accept, Meta receives your IP address, browser information and the pages you viewed, and may match this to a Facebook or Instagram account. Meta acts as an independent controller for that data — their own privacy policy governs it.
Our lawful basis is your consent, which you can withdraw at any time by clearing this site's data in your browser settings. Doing so will bring the notice back so you can choose again.
Stripe's checkout, hosted on Stripe's own domain, sets cookies necessary for processing your payment and preventing fraud. These are strictly necessary and are not covered by the consent notice.
We set one small item of local storage to remember your cookie choice. It contains nothing but your answer.
